The Process of Prophetic Popcorn

I really, really like popcorn!

Last night at our weekly gathering at Marketplace Mondays, God released some mighty prophetic words over His workplace warriors. And it got me reflecting.

Just as Jesus often taught parables with a theme, “the Kingdom of heaven is like…”, I asked, “What is Marketplace Mondays like?”

Marketplace Mondays was launched last year by the Lord to become an intercessory prayer and equipping lab for marketplace believers. We equip workplace warriors in three major ways:

  1. Teaching Kingdom-based leadership, management and entrepreneurial growth skills;
  2. How to live in deeper communion with the Lord, and;
  3. How to walk in “a demonstration of Spirit and power” (1 Corinthians 2:4-5) within our unique “market-place” be it business, education, media and communication, arts and entertainment, or government.

When I finally got home after a powerful lesson on Spirit-Led Planning and phenomenal intercessory prayer, it dawned on me (another prophetic download) that our weekly connection hubs are like prophetic popcorn.

And so is anyone’s grow process in the Lord.

Here’s how.

Popcorn Process

Envision you are about to cook popcorn the wonderful “old fashioned way” – on top of a stove – rather than cheating with nasty-tasting microwave popcorn.

Here is the step-by-step popcorn cooking process.

  • Vision – believing your harvest will fill a big pot (1 Corinthians 2:9)
  • Container – choosing a cooking container strong enough to handle extreme heat and a large harvest. (Numbers 4:16)
  • Oil – coat the inside of the cooking container with [extra virgin] olive oil (Leviticus 8:12)
  • Seeds – add popcorn seeds into the container (Mark 4:31)
  • Shake – throughly cover & coat the seeds with the oil (Luke 6:38 )
  • Heat – turn up the heat until the oil bubbles (Psalm 19:6)
  • Wait – patience until the oil completes its intended purpose  – to literally transform the seeds from the inside out (Psalm 27:14)
  • 1 Pop – 1 seed pops (Romans 8:19)
  • 2 Pops – Pop – Pop – many seeds begin to pop (Mark 4:29)
  • Sounds – deafening sounds of many seeds simultaneously popping (Revelation 14:2)
  • Overflow – without a lid, seeds spew out all over the counter and the floor (Psalm 23:5)
  • New Container – pour the harvest into a very large bowl (Luke 5:5-7)
  • Salt – add a pinch of salt for flavor and prophetic preservative (Mark 9:49-50)
  • Enjoy the Harvest  eat and share in the overflowing prosperity of God’s gift (Psalms 35:27)
  • Cool Down & Clean – allow the container to cool down & be cleaned (Luke 5:2) for the next prophetic serving.
  • Repeat Forever (Mark 16:15)

Whatever step you are in this process, know that, just like this prophetic picture, your harvest will come.

Question

At what step are you currently in your “prophetic popcorn process?”

I am now in the “2 Pops” phase. It has taken YEARS to get here, but hang with me – you are about to see…in the very near future… the heavenly sounds and global release of His prophetic (popcorn) overflow!

Anybody want to share a bowl of “prophetic popcorn” with me?

  • I love the popcorn analogy, Dr. Jim! I’d love to have a bowl (or two) of “prophetic popcorn.”

When I was a kid, I ate so much popcorn, so fast, that my Dad nicknamed me “The Shovel!”

I just started re-reading The Unfair Advantage this morning, so thanks for your timely message.

I’ll check out your Facebook Marketplace Mondays page.

I like that Dave – “The Shovel” – so glad they meant eating popcorn rather than other secular uses of “shoveling….” :-) Appreciate so much your comment as well as your shout out for “Our Unfair Advantage.” Great it hear from you. Favor fall upon all you do in Jesus name!

I love this Dr Jim, my two children love, love popcorn and ever since my little boy was old enough to make it and watch it mushroom out over the edges of the pot he got the idea so clearly that growth can be this amazing. And, we have talked much about the little kernels that never pop and why that might be – for another day and another blog post would you say? God bless, Sharon

    • Dr. Jim says:

Thank you so much Sharon. Yep – future blog on why the few do not pop (sad reality that the vast majority of believers do no pop – they just try to survive the heat & never allow Holy Spirit to unleash them from the inside-out. Opps – gave away the next popcorn blog!)
