“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” Romans 8:14
Several years ago, I learned an incredibly valuable lesson from a friend and client about what my leadership audiences really needed to hear.
As the President of the Mobile, AL Chamber of Commerce, my friend asked me to speak to his over 1,000 attendees at an annual Mobile Chamber celebration event. This led to many other opportunities to serve his leadership team and several firms across the upper Gulf coast.
Twist My Arm
One day I received a call from him asking if I would speak at an upcoming US Chamber executive committee event he was organizing at a resort in Boca Raton, FL. “Twist my arm” was my quick response.
When we got to the topic, he knew all my repertoire of executive, leadership and business best practices keynotes, books and briefings. But then he said something I will always remember.
He said, “Jim, this time, will you just remind us of what we already know?”
Whew, that so resonated with me.
So I proceeded to customize an executive briefing that reminded these top leaders of the US Chamber what they already knew about executive leadership and personal productivity (with a few fun twists).
The presentation was a rousing success, and a tipping point for my career.
Hence, this short post on how to #BeLed by Holy Spirit, my core focus for the past 6 years! Surely, most of you are not the lest bit surprised.
